Having high quality headphones means always having to explain how it's possible for a 5 foot white girl to know every word to Notorious BIG's discography in its entirety. It means seeing boys snicker when they hear songs that are better suited for Straight Outta Compton's soundtrack coming from my ear buds and being underestimated when having intelligent discussions about Kanye's transformation from someone "admittedly self-conscious" to dillusional boy-mann-god-shit (phish reference for those not open to other genres)
I made this series of rapper baby illustrations because for me, presenting the world of hiphop juxtaposed with the softness of childhood takes a beautiful craft out of the boys club it exists in.
