J Cole Forest Hills Drive Poster
A commissioned poster for J Cole's Forest Hills Drive Tour (the Tallahassee, FL stop specifically)
Through Behance, Adobe Students, and Dreamville Records, I was given the opportunity to create the official poster for the Tallahassee stop on J Cole's "Forest Hills Drive" Tour.
I was tasked with creating imagery that represented the themes prevelant on Cole's Forest Hills Drive album, which ranged from the importance of love and togertherness within both the black community and in a larger sense, the hip-hop community in its entirety. The album takes us back to simpler times, referencing the artists' 'firsts' and the days before his initial rise to fame.
In my poster, I specifically wanted to highlight the message I believe to be most important, which is one of possibility and equal opportunity in pursuit of our dreams. The idea that regardless of physical origins or economic upbringing, one can transcend beyond believed limitation and fulfill their personal destinies.
Additionally, I wanted to highlight the importance of hometown pride, which in this instance, meant incorperating FSU's legendary football stadium; an iconic place recognized by nearly every member of this community. One that ties us all together as individuals apart of one unified collective.
Below I have Included the final design that was printed for the tour as well as a series of images documenting the progress and little details I enjoyed creating.
Because I come from a drawing background, each element was hand drawn, scanned, and incorperated using Photoshop.

I wanted to create an organic, "hand made" element to the imagery, so this image offers a close up of the hand drawn elements I created with pen before scanning them. Everything from the paper airplanes to the various torn layers of paper were done by hand and photographed or scanned.
